'Converge anywhere in Lagos and get arrested' - Police issues serious warning to cultists over proposed 'get together' in Lagos

Lagos State police command has just issued a stern warning to cultists over their proposed Saturday 'get together' in the state.

In a statement signed by the state Police PRO, SP Chike OTI, 'the authorities of the Lagos State Police Command, have received credible intelligence that members of some unlawful societies such as the Aiye, Eiye, Black Axe, Buccaneers, etc, are going round town serving notices to rival cult gangs in the neighbourhood that they would be converging on Saturday 7/7/ 2018 at yet to be disclosed locations within their domains'.

According to available information, the 7th day of the 7th month is sacred to these outlaws. It is also a day they settle scores with rival cult groups and a day of outright brigandage and anomie.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Imohimi Edgal, warns that any such gathering by members of the unlawful society will be viewed as an unlawful assembly with the intent to commit felony. And those that gathered will be visited with the full weight of the law.
He reiterates that no cult group will be allowed to compromise the peace daily nurtured by men and women of goodwill in the state and maintained by the police.

He, therefore, urges members of the public to blow the whistle on these brigands anywhere they are found. In the same vein, the CP urges parents to warn their children who are members of these nefarious associations not only to renounce cultism, but denounce it in all its ramifications.

''There is no faction in our party'' APC says

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the party is not factionalised contrary to the picture painted by members of the recently formed faction, the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC).

Recall that on Wednesday July 4th, politician and founding member of the APC, Buba Galadima, led a revolt against the Adams Oshiomhole-led APC National Working Committee, which, he said, was a product impunity. Himself and his followers announced a national executive with the aim to reform the APC.

The ruling party has denied this claim. In a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said there is no division in the party. Read the statement below

“On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, a group of individuals announced itself as ‘Reformed All Progressives Congress (APC)’ at a press conference held in Abuja. By their actions, this group has attempted to create the impression that our party is factionalised. This is not true.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to affirm that there is no faction in our party and declares the action by these individuals as mischievous and ill-advised.

“Having failed to scuttle the national convention as was their original plan, they now resort to this subterfuge as a way of achieving the pre-determined end of causing confusion.

“As a matter of fact, we doubt that these individuals parading as leaders of the so called faction are actual members of our party. We are currently investigating their true membership status within the party.

“While we shall continue to monitor developments in this respect, we will not hesitate to take lawful actions to defend the unity of our party and protect the sanctity of its identity. We are currently reviewing the action of this so-called faction in order to determine if any aspect of the party’s constitution has been breached with the connivance of any of our members.

“For those members who have genuine grievances, we want to assure them of the commitment of the new leadership of the party to address those grievances as quickly as possible in a manner that ensures that justice is done to all”.
