Stephen Miller, a top aide to President Donald Trump on Tuesday October 6 confirmed that he has tested positive for Coronavirus.
The senior adviser to the US president with a wide-ranging portfolio in the White House, joins Trump’s wife, press secretary, campaign manager, party chair, counselor and numerous other staffers who have tested positive for coronavirus.
Miller said in a statement;
“Over the last 5 days I have been working remotely and self-isolating, testing negative every day through yesterday. Today, I tested positive for Covid-19 and am in quarantine."
Miller is married to Katie Miller, the communications director for Vice President Mike Pence. Katie Miller was one of the earliest Trump aides to get coronavirus, back in May; the couple are also expecting their first child.
The top aide who served as a policy adviser and speechwriter for Trump, was among the most ardent defenders of the administration’s policy to separate children from parents. He is also the an immigration hardliner who has publicly espoused racist and white nationalist ideas that migration and amnesty for immigrants would “decimate” the US.
Trump on the other hand is recuperating in the White House and has tweeted his eagerness to return to the campaign trail on Tuesday even as the outbreak that has killed more than 210,000 Americans reached ever more widely into the upper echelons of the US government.
The US President has faced intense criticism after returning from the hospital, where he spent three days, and staging a mask-free photo op outside the White House despite remaining contagious.
