Trump's name to be added to Coronavirus relief cheques sent to Americans
US President and Billionaire, Donald Trump's name will be added to Economic stimulus relief cheques sent to millions of Americans meant to combat the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a last-minute Treasury Department order, Trump's name was added even though there are reports that the inclusion of his name will result in a delay for Americans receiving those checks, a process that could take as long as 20 weeks.
According to the Washington Post, "President Donald J. Trump" would appear in the memo line on the left side of the checks -- marking the first time a president's written name is featured on an IRS check.
A treasury spokesperson has denied claims Trump's name inclusion will delay the timing of the cheques.
"Economic Impact Payment checks are scheduled to go out on time and exactly as planned -- there is absolutely no delay whatsoever," A Treasury spokesperson told the Washington Post
According to a US House Ways and Means Committee memo, the paper checks will be issued at a rate of about 5 million per week and people with the lowest incomes, based on adjusted gross income, will receive their checks first, a process that could take up to 20 weeks to issue all.
According to Washington Post, Trump had confidentially asked Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin if he could officially sign the checks, but he has denied those reports as a president is not authorized to sign Treasury payments in order to protect the checks from politicization.
"No. Me sign? No. There's millions of checks. I'm going to sign them? No. It's a Trump administration initiative,"Trump said on April 3.
"But do I want to sign them? No."
Trump, the senate and the House of Reps in March signed into law a historic 2 trillion Dollars economic stimulus bill to pay Americans during the Coronavirus pandemic and offset economic hardships suffered by the people this period. The first set of cheques will be paid next week.

The woman was allegedly shot at by men of the Mopol 75 Squad of the Nigerian Police Force, Cross River Command.
The officers were trying to disperse the crowd during a face-off with women of Igwo community in Obudu local government area of the state.
The yet-to-be-identified noodles seller, who was present at the scene of the clash, is reportedly undergoing treatment in a medical facility in the state.
An eye witness told CrossRiverwatch that the police officers fired bullets and tear gas at the protesting women who stripped naked to express their displeasure.
"As at the time I left there around 9:30PM, the shooting continued and the Mopol had also fired tear gas with the women stripping bare," the eyewitness said.
Ushe Adie, another eyewitness at the scene said the protesting women threw stones into the compound shattering a windowpane and this caused police to begin shooting.

21-year-old meat seller arrested for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl in Abuja
A 21-year-old meat seller has been arrested for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Yakubu Diko has been remanded in prison after he was accused of tricking the young girl into his home before raping her about three weeks ago.
Abiodun Essiet, a Special Adviser to the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area council (AMAC), said Diko approached the playground where the girl was with her peers and chased everyone except the little girl, The ICIR reports.
He beckoned to the girl, pretending he wanted to send her on an errand.
When she followed him into the house, Diko allegedly squeezed a towel in the girl’s mouth, held her down and sexually abused her. He then warned her not to tell anyone what had happened.
However, on the third day after the incident, the victim started bleeding while trying to urinate and the pain made her cry. It was then that her parents became aware that she had been raped.
The parents reported the case to the community chief, who then spoke to Essiet and sought her guidance in handling the rape case.
Essiet advised the chief to report the case to the Karimo Sabo station after the girl was examined in a clinic and confirmed to have been sexually abused.
In the medical report sighted by The ICIR , the young girl’s clinical report read that her labia minora was swollen with her hymen broken, indicating forced penetration.
Dikko was arrested and locked him up in a cell.
However, after spending two weeks in the cell, the parents of the suspect pleaded with the girl’s parents to have him released, saying they were ready to settle out of court.
The girl’s family agreed and requested that the man be released.
On getting to the police station, they were referred back to Essiet, who acting as a representative of the social welfare unit of AMAC, warned that anyone who tried to frustrate the case would be arrested for obstructing justice.
The suspect, therefore, has been relocated to the Force's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further prosecution, Essiet said.
