Coronavirus: Pastors are not ordinary people, anyone who assaults a pastor is in danger – Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has warned against the arrest and assault of Pastors amid the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country.

The founder of Loveworld Ministries a.k.a Christ Embassy said this while reacting to a report of Pastors being arrested by government officials in a bid to enforce social distancing in churches.

Narrating a recent incident which played out, Pastor Chris recalled how a member of a taskforce boasted about arresting a Pastor.

The Christ Embassy Founder said;

“He was excited he arrested a Pastor. Terrible! But he is not the first to arrest a pastor. Jesus was arrested and Jesus was doing what the people didn’t want Him to do and the Apostles did what they were not allowed to do. The Government said, ‘Don’t preach in this name anymore’. They went on preaching. Right?! They arrested them.

"So it is not enough to say, well, if you do what the Government say not to do, then we have the power to arrest you. Arrest! That Pastor was not the first person to do what Government said don’t do. When I heard of it, I didn’t judge him because what if he was praying and that was the guidance he got?"

Pastor Chris who stated that those who arrest Pastors are in more danger than they can imagine, added that Pastors are not ordinary people.

He said;

“Let me tell you, it is not everyone that will take some of the steps that we might take. Not everyone. The Holy Spirit knows exactly how He wants things done. It’s up to Him. What I’m always saying is that, anybody who assaults a pastor is in danger.

“He is in more trouble than the Pastor. Pastors are not ordinary people. If you like you can call them ordinary men, that is up to you, but the Spirit that works with them, when that Spirit is fighting you, nobody can help you. No amount of prayer, no one can help you.

“It is only people who say they are Christians that fight ministers of the gospel. Others when they know, they remove their hands, He is a pastor. They shift away, but the one that is a Christian is bold, he enters the church. So, if you are a pastor and they assault you. Don’t feel bad, you are not the first, don’t feel bad. But, for the rest pray for your pastors, remember to pray for them. Never condemn a pastor. Never. Don’t ever do it. Don’t do it. Don’t join those who do it. Don’t! Keep your mouth to yourself.”

Coronavirus: FG to evacuate Nigerians abroad

The federal government has announced that it will be evacuating Nigerians who stay abroad and are willing to return home.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) disclosed that the evacuation process was initiated following pleas from Nigerians who are stranded abroad due to the Coronavirus pandemic. She further revealed that they are currently compiling a list of Nigerians who want to return to the country.

The evacuees will be compulsorily quarantined upon their return to the country, and they are also expected to bear the cost of the evacuation process.

A statement released by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Head of Media and Public Relations Unit at NIDCOM reads in part;

“The interested Nigerians are advised to inform the missions in the various countries they are in, which will then collate and coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“To this end, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians stranded abroad willing to return home to key into this Federal Government gesture by providing information to the mission in their respective host countries.”

Delta government says video of soldiers threatening to rape and infect women in Warri with HIV is fake

The Delta State Government has reacted to a video of soldiers threatening to rape and infect women in Warri with HIV.

The video was supposedly made by two soldiers who were threatening to carry out the act in retaliation of the attack soldiers suffered, after they killed a youth leader identified as Joseph Pessu for disobeying the lockdown order in the state.

The video was however described as "fake" in a statement released by the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu on behalf of the state government. He insisted that some disgruntled elements are bent on pitching the people against the State Government.

Aniagwu who stated that the video misrepresented the Nigerian military, added that the military command whose responsibility it was to deploy personnel had also debunked the video.

He said;

“Let me thank Deltans for their cooperation so far and urge them to discard the concocted videos aimed at causing disaffection between the military and Deltans.

“The concocted video clips were aimed at causing disaffection between Deltans and the security agencies carrying out lawful duties.

“While we appeal to our people to remain law-abiding, it is imperative to state that videos trending on social media are not a true reflection of happenings in the state.

“We, therefore, call on our people to discard the videos and continue to remain indoors as directed by the government to enable us to curb the possible outbreak and spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.”

There are signs of community transmission of Coronavirus in Nigeria - Minister of Health, Ehanire Osagie

The Minister of Health, Ehanire Osagie has disclosed that there are signs of community transmission of Coronavirus in the country.

The Minister who disclosed this at the Presidential Task Force briefing in Abuja on Friday April 3, said the speculation stemmed from 30 percent of confirmed cases in the country having incomplete epidemiological information.

Ehanire said;

“We are already seeing what may be indications of sustained community transmission in the sense that 30 percent of the cases have incomplete epidemiological information while 51 percent are imported cases and 19 percent are contacts of known cases.

“We are using the small window of opportunity remaining to intensify investigations to identify cases and their sources.

“We have a policy of targeted testing. This way we identify those that are most likely to be infected – those who just came back from abroad and those who had contacts with cases.

“As the picture changes, we are worrying more about community transmission. The pattern has been extended to include those who have symptoms or probably in anyway connected in an area where the prevalence is high or criteria that indicates that a person might be positive. This way, we are able to utilise our resources more effectively”.

The Minister also disclosed that he expects to see increased cases of Coronavirus in the country, following the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja.

He added;

“The global number of COVID-19 cases has crossed the one million mark, just 3 months after the outbreak was first reported in Wuhan, China.

“It is an indication that it is a public health challenge we must not take lightly.

“Here in Nigeria, we have recorded 10 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, so that cumulatively, as of the 3rd of April, we have 190 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria across 12 states and the FCT, 2 fatalities and 20 cases discharged from treatment.

“There are 98 in Lagos State, 48 in FCT, Osun 20, Oyo 8, Akwa Ibom 5, Edo, Kaduna and Ogun, 4 each, Bauchi 3, Enugu and Ekiti 2 each, while Rivers and Benue have 1 each”.

A Nigerian man, Aghawarianovwe Ikie, who has been diagnosed with Coronavirus, in the UK, has taken to Facebook to shares his near-death experience.

In his post, Ikie recounted how he initially thought he had a flu but when the symptoms persisted, he was examined by the health workers and tested positive for COVID-19.

Read his post below

Here I was in my isolation bedroom at home, NOT at the hospital. But here I am to worship, Here I am to bow down,
Here I am to say that you're my God, You're altogether lovely, Altogether worthy, Altogether wonderful to me...
COVID-19: My Testimony:

I was in the valley of the shadow of death. But I abide in the secret place of the Most High & rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I say of the Lord, you are my Refuge, my Fortress, in you alone I trust.

I have been sick since on or about 12 March 2020. I initially mistook my condition for Flu. It was much later that it dawned on us that I was battling with Coronavirus. I was totalling broken down with 100% loss of appetite, cough, shortness of breath, extreme fever and sudden extreme cold.

My saving grace lied in the fact that I still managed to breathe unaided. So, when the ambulance eventually came to take me to the Covid-19 Hospital facility, I declined because I was worried that I might catch a more deadly strain of the virus in such an environment. Besides, the benefit of ventilator, I didn’t see any chance of hospital staff forcing me to eat as would my wife & children.

They literally forced fed me. The Paramedics carried out ECG Test on me & were happy with the results. They remarked that they were confident that I had Coronavirus & that members of my household unit were already all infected despite not having been formally tested. As at this point, you only get tested upon admission at the hospital. The nights were terrible; I sweated a river. On a particular day, I alerted my cousin, Olorogun Kenneth Okpara, about my predicament. He advised that I should read Psalm 91 in the mornings and in the evenings.

Shortly, thereafter (25 minutes precisely) he sent me a message that as he prayed for me, the Holy Spirit lifted a “dark cloud” from me & my house & replaced it with a white cloud. Some time passed and another brother, Mudiaga Dennis Ofuoku, advised that I should read Psalm 91 three times daily. I just smiled to myself. I can confirm that members of my family unit are fully recovered.

To the glory of God, I am also now almost fully recovered. My appetite is 100% back & the fever is gone. I lost no less than 7 kilograms in the short period. Please I do not want to receive phone calls as I presently require a lot of rest. God has been most merciful to me. I fall within the vulnerable group. I saw death, but prevailed, to His glory. Join me in expressing my gratitude to the Almighty.''
