Billionaire Jeff Bezos buys historic Beverly Hills Estate for record $165 Million
The World's richest man, Jeff Bezos has acquired a new massive mansion in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles worth a whooping $165 million, a record buy.
The 13,600-square-foot Georgian-style mansion has expansive terraces and gardens, two guesthouses, nursery and three hothouses, tennis court, swimming pool, nine-hole golf course and motor court complete with its own service garage and gas pumps.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the nine-acre estate was once owned by late Warner Bros president, Jack Warner and the amount paid by Bezos who is worth $131 billion, is the largest amount paid for a single-family Los Angeles-area home.
Jeff Bezos who has been house hunting with his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez bought the house from media mogul David Geffen.
According to reports, Ann Warner, Jack Warner’s widow, declined a $25m offer for the estate after he died in 1978, saying she would live there until she died before Geffen broke national records when he purchased the estate for $47.5m. Now Bezos, owner of Amazon and Washington Post, has now broken another record with the purchase.
The previous residential record was set late last year, when media executive Lachlan Murdoch, son of Rupert Murdoch, paid $150 million for the Bel-Air estate used as the Clampett residence in the television show The Beverly Hillbillies.

US House panel advances bill to repeal Trump's travel ban on Nigeria and other Muslim majority countries
The United States House Judiciary Committee chaired by Jerry Nadler, on Wednesday, voted to advance a bill that would repeal Donald Trump's travel ban on Nigeria and other Muslim majority countries, and also limit the president from imposing future restrictions based on religion or worship.
Early this month, President Trump signed a proclamation stopping citizens from Eritrea, Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan and Nigeria from applying for visas to immigrate to the U.S. (Read Here )
The House of Representatives, controlled by the Democrats, voted along party lines in favour of advancing the "NO BAN Act", which was introduced after Trump imposed a new travel ban that included Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation, and 5 other countries. Other countries that faced travel restrictions to the US include Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Venezuela and North Korea.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a top civil rights group, welcomed the Judiciary House panel's move, saying it sends a message to Trump that Muslims are welcome to America.
"Congress took a huge step forward today, sending the message to the president and the country that Muslims and other communities of colour are welcome here. Now that the bill has passed out of committee, we look forward to its swift passage in the House without any further changes," Mana Waheed, senior legislative and advocacy counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said in a statement.
"We must end these bans and prevent presidents from using rank prejudice to discriminate against black and brown people," Waheed added.
The 'NO Ban Act' would overturn Trump's travel ban and prevent the US president from establishing future restrictions on immigrants to the US unless the administration provides strong evidence before Congress.

Actress Anna Faris confirms she’s engaged and says she would officiate her own wedding
Anna Faris has confirmed she is engaged three years after her split from ex-husband Chris Pratt.
The 43-year-old American actress, who has been dating cinematographer Michael Barrett after her split from the actor, confirmed her engagement to host James Corden on "The Late Late Show" this week.
The Scary Movie star sparked engagement rumors earlier in February when she posted a photo with Jason Biggs in which she flaunted a massive ring on her finger.
When Corden asked Faris about the ring on The Late Late Show, the actress confirmed she's getting married again.
He pointed out the "unbelievable" canary yellow rock on her left ring finger, saying:"This was not here the last time you were on the show," Corden said. "Look at this ring!"
Faris thanked the host while flaunting off her ring. "Who are you marrying, Mark Zuckerberg?" Corden exclaimed. "Congratulations on the engagement."
The actress then mentioned she is searching for someone to officiate her upcoming nuptials.
"Can you officiate a wedding? … I would love you to audition, if you came and read," Faris joked, with Corden asking her what she was looking for in an officiant. "I want somebody that's humorous, that also brings heartfelt sentiment, that doesn't talk too much about themselves."
“I could [officiate my wedding],” Faris quipped. “I need a lot of attention, James!”
Anna Faris's engagement to Michael Barrett comes three years after she and actor Chris Pratt, who were married for eight years with a son, split from each other.
Pratt is now married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, the daughter of legendary actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
