Dancing senator, Ademola Adeleke rejects Osun rerun result, vows to retrieve his mandate

PDP governorship candidate in the Osun state rerun election, Ademola Adeleke, has rejected the result announced by INEC early this morning in which the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, was declared winner of the rerun.

Speaking to newsmen after the results were announced by the electoral body, Adeleke said there was no election in Osun state. He vowed to challenge the results at the state tribunal and retrieve the mandate given to him by the people.

Speaking through his brother, Dele Adeleke, Ademola said

“It will be foolish to allow this 419 result to stand. The party will meet and I believe that the tribunal is the next step to take. Adeleke’s mandate can’t be stolen, it will be retrieved. The wish of the people will stand at the end.”

Lai Mohammed expresses satisfaction in Osun rerun election, commends INEC for job welldone

Minister of Information and chairman of the APC media Campaign Council for the Osun governorship election, Lai Mohammed, has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of Thursday's supplementary election in the state, saying with the result, the people have emphatically pitched their tent with the ruling party.

In a statement issued in Osogbo on Thursday, Lai Mohammed on behalf of the council, congratulated the Governor-elect, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the outgoing Governor, His Excellency Rauf Aregbesola and the entire APC family for the well deserved but hard-earned victory.

He commended INEC and the security agencies for a largely peaceful and orderly election, as attested to by local and international observers.

The Council said the biggest winner in the whole election saga is democracy, and gave the credit to the good people of Osun as well as the ruling APC, which did not hesitate to submit to the democratic process despite the high stakes.

''As we said in an earlier statement, the PDP, in its time, would not have given any room for a rerun as it would have hijacked the main election, with its brigandage, rigging and total disdain for the democratic process. But as a party of change, we believe strongly in the democratic process. We believe in the ability of the relevant institutions to carry out their assigned responsibilities and we believe in the ability of the people to do what is right. In the end, the good people of Osun did what is right by ensuring the shellacking of the PDP. This is the right thing to do, considering the impressive performance of the APC government in Osun in the last eight years,'' it said.

The Council advised the PDP to stop issuing threats and to take full advantage of the democratic process if it has any grouse with the supplementary election.

''When the PDP led in the main election, which was declared inconclusive, we did not threaten fire and brimstone, neither did we drag the International community into it. We simply went along with the prescribed process. We urge the PDP to emulate this,'' it said.

The Council also called on INEC and the security agencies to ensure that the PDP thugs, fake observers and vote buyers who were arrested during the rerun are all brought to justice expeditiously.

Convicted molester's girlfriend admits she knew he was raping her daughter, 10, before the girl got pregnant, yet she kept living with him

The mother whose boyfriend continually raped and impregnated her 10-year-old daughter has pleaded guilty to charges of neglect, aiding child molesting, and assisting a criminal.

Her boyfriend Nicholas Deon Thrash, 34, was sentenced to 160 years imprisonment last Thursday on ten counts. On Tuesday the 33-year-old mother accepted a 20 year prison sentence, to be followed by five years of probation.

The mother will not be named in order to protect the identity of the daughter.

The daughter, now 12, gave birth in 2017 when she was 11 to a baby boy who was placed for adoption. The mother admitted in court that her daughter told her that she was being molested by Thrash, yet she kept them living with him and didn't report anything to the authorities.

She told her daughter to lie and say a classmate had impregnated her when she discovered her growing bump as she tried on dresses for a school dance. She also moved from Georgia to Indiana with Thrash and kept living him.

Thrash was found guilty of 10 counts of molestation against his girlfriend's daughter in August this year and sentenced last week. Thrash lied throughout his trial that he did not impregnate her and claimed her mother artificially inseminated her own daughter with his sperm.

He was arrested after another member of the family discovered that the girl was five months pregnant.

Earlier this year, during his trial the girl testified against him. She clutched a stuffed animal to her chest as she told the jury how he had attacked her at least 15 times.

The girl currently lives in foster care.
