British Donald Trump 'would-be assassin' appears in court after 'grabbing policeman's gun to kill Republican candidate'

A British man has appeared in court accused of trying to assassinate Donald Trump at a Presidential rally in Las Vegas

Michael Steven Sandford allegedly attempted to kill the presumptive Republican presidential nominee on Saturday.

The 20-year-old is charged with an act of violence on restricted grounds after being thwarted by officers .

He is believed to have told the Secret Service he had been “planning to kill Trump for about a year but decided to act on this occasion because he finally felt confident about trying it.”

When Sandford appeared in court yesterday, it emerged he had been living in his car while on an expired Visa.

Prosecutors said the suspect also suffered from a form of autism.

Following a brief hearing in Las Vegas he was ordered by US Magistrate Judge George Foley Jr. to be held without bail.

The justice found Sandford a danger to the community and a flight risk.

Assistant US Attorney Jared Grimmer argued for Sandford to remain on remand arguing he was unemployed and living in the States illegally with no ties to Las Vegas.

Mr Grimmer also said Sandford may have some “mental health issues.“

Police filed a complaint in the Nevada US District Court on Monday signed by Special Agent Joseph Hall.

He wrote how Sandford had driven from California in order to kill Trump and had visited a gun range in Las Vegas the day before to learn how to shoot.

On the day of the rally at the Treasure Island Casino the would-be killer is alleged to have approached a police officer on the pretence he wanted an autograph from Trump.

Oshiomhole's former aide Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu emerges PDP candidate for Edo gubernatorial election

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has emerged Candidate of the PDP in the September 2016 Gubernatorial Election in Edo State. Ize-Iyamu,53, was declared winner of the Edo State PDP Gubernatorial Primary Election by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Engr. Dave Umahi, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State. He scored 584 votes out of the 713 delegates that where accredited and voted.



In his acceptance speech, Pastor Ize-Iyamu commended the national leadership of the party and the electoral committee for transparency and fairness in the process. He said the fight to reclaim Edo State would continue until the party produced the governor in the September election.


He was a member of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and led Governor Oshiomhole's campaign for second term. When Ize-Iyamu fell out with the Governor, he joined the PDP and became Coordinator of the Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation for the 2015 Presidential election.


Presenting Mr. Ize-Iyamu to the party members, the chairman thanked all the PDP governors and supporters.

"We wish to therefore urge all our teeming supporters, elders and leaders in Edo State to rally round and give their maximum support to our flag bearer to emerge Victorious in the Governorship Election in Edo State scheduled to hold in September 2016."

FG suspends tenure policy in the Federal civil service

The Federal government has ordered the suspension of tenure policy in the federal civil service. A statement Haruna R. Imrana, the Director of Communication at the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, the suspension is with immediate effect.

The tenure policy which was introduced by former Head of Service, Steve Oronsaye, prescribed two terms of four years each for permanent secretaries and an eight-year tenure for directors.
