From Bella Hadid's sheer sequinned gown to Victoria Beckham's chic jumpsuit, the celebs have set the fashion bar pretty high for this year's Cannes Film Festival – and it's only the opening night.
As the first day of the star-studded event kicked off, Hollywood's elite showed up to watch the first ever screening of Woody Allen's latest film Cafe Society.
And there were some seriously glamorous looks on show.
Leading the pack were Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria and model Bella Hadid – who both put forward a very strong case for embellishment.

Eva opted for nude as well
Bella – who recently made her Vogue debut – left little to the imagination in a stunning nude gown, which was covered with intricate sequin embroidery.
Meanwhile, 41-year-old Eva showed off her hourglass curves in a two-toned dress, which featured a trailing white skirt and a blush bodice.

Victoria kept it chic in a jumpsuit
Joining her on the red carpet was BFF Victoria Beckham, who took her style tips from the boys along with Susan Sarandon.
While seasoned designer Victoria handled the red carpet with ease in a simple yet elegant jumpsuit, Susan opted for a black two-piece suit and over-sized sunnies.

Both stars favoured monochrome tailoring for the event, but it was the former Posh Spice who had the edge thanks to a dazzling display of diamonds, courtesy of Chopard.
Giving fans a sneak-peek at her outfit, the former Spice Girl posted on Twitter to thank her friend for the diamonds.
"Honoured to join my good friend Caroline @chopard for #cannes2016 this evening x vb," she wrote.

Earlier today we saw the stunning Blake Lively – who defied all the red carpet rules in a red jumpsuit as she posed alongside co-star Kristen Stewart.
The former Gossip Girl actress – who's currently pregnant with her second child with hubby Ryan Reynolds – will no doubt be excited to see the finished Woody Allen film, in which she stars with the Twilight actress.

They both looked gorgeous
As the pair joked around together on the red carpet, Kristen showed off her curves in a fitted white skirt and gave fans a glimpse of her toned abs in a white crop top.
The ever-stylish Blake managed a quick outfit change before she arrived for the evening viewing – giving us another sequinned gown to swoon over.
The pregnant star revealed her growing bump in the figure-hugging dress and added to the old-school glamour with loose waves.

Keeping it simple in all-black were Victoria's Secret models Lily Donaldson and Doutzen Kroes who both flaunted their slender physiques in plunging gowns.
Both of the gorgeous blondes oozed sex appeal – with Lily vamping up her look with dark plum lipstick and Doutzen flashing some skin with a thigh-high split.
Julianne Moore followed in their lead in a curve-hugging dress, which featured sheer panelling and cobras embroidered in sequins. Talk about bad-ass.

Elsewhere there was a flurry of colour – with yellow a firm favourite for the night as Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick and Jessica Chastain both stepped out in it.
While Anna teamed her eye-catching gown with a slick of red lipstick, Jessica kept things au-naturel – instead letting her plunging neckline and jewelled necklace do the talking.

In true red carpet style, there were also a few dresses that made an impression for all the wrong reasons, such as the ruffled pink gown from Thai actress Araya A. Hargate – it looks impossible to sit down in.
Italian model Bianca Balti followed in a similar ensemble, which included trailing blue ruffles and black lace.

As one of the most important dates on the international film calendar, few red carpets rival Cannes in the fashion stakes.
And with this year's event running until the 22nd, there's plenty of time to see who'll be making this year's best dressed lists.
