Nigerian army officially declares 46 soldiers missing after Boko Haram attack five weeks ago
46 soldiers are said to have gone missing following an attack by the sect members 5 weeks ago. The soldiers who were involved in an operation against the insurgents in the north east, went missing after the troops overpowered the sect members during a fierce gun battle.
Premium Times reports that the families of the missing soldiers have been contacted by the Nigerian Army, requesting their next of kins of to forward their bank account numbers so that the entitlements of the soldiers can be paid.
Military sources said the declaration and notification to families of the missing soldiers were contained in a notice sent out on November 20th by the new commander of the Nigerian Army 145 Task Force Battalion in Damasak, Borno State, Lt. Col. M. Jimoh. Spokesperson of the Army, Col S.K Usman has not reacted to this recent development.
