Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court Abuja who was handling the trial of former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has withdrawn from the case. At the resumed hearing of the case this morning, Justice Ademola announced his withdrawal, stating that he cannot preside over a case which the DSS has accused him of collecting money from the defendant, Dasuki.Justice Ademola was among the seven judges whose homes were raided a fortnight ago and were arrested over allegations of corruption.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria last week, Justice Ademola alleged that his interrogation and investigation by the DSS was because he granted bail to both Dasuki and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
