It's been a whirlwind 18 months for Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley as she prepares to marry her beau over the coming days.
After a string of bad boyfriends, Cath swore off men and even vowed to have a baby with a gay friend.
Then personal trainer Tom Pitfield came into her life and she was pregnant 4 months later .
Now Alfie is one and they are busy putting the final touches to their big day.
“Meeting Tom was so, so out of the blue,” she told Notebook magazine.
“I’m dead lucky. He ticks every box.
“Of course it was shock for us but we were both ready. The fact I wasn’t nervous about telling him proved a point in my head that he was the right guy for me.”
Playing the glamorous Eva Price in Corrie, Catherine, 32, works hard to keep in shape so she can slip into an array of skimpy outfits.
But her lithe figure is a far cry from the size 22 she used to be as a youngster.
“I was treated differently,” she said.
“I was the fat, funny friend.
“They [men] all wanted to buy me a drink when I was slim but I said no. Because they didn’t want to buy me one when I was fat.”
But now fitness fanatic Catherine says exercise and eating well has become a way of life.
“I was lifting weights when I was 7 months pregnant,” she said.
“People were tweeting their shock at that but if you’ve always done it, there’s no way you can’t not carry on.
“I went back to the gym less than 6 weeks after giving birth. But safely. I was doing hill sprints with him in his pram.
“There’s a little bit more pressure with my job. Especially because Eva is always in ridiculously tight dresses. My dad always has to avert his eyes.”
