Irish charmer Laura Whitmore, 30, gets ready to preside over the red carpet and backstage chaos at this year’s BRIT Awards…
This is your fifth year presenting the BRITs red carpet – do you still get nervous?
No, I could do it in my sleep! [laughs]. The great thing about it is that it’s completely different every single year, with different artists, and of course it’s live telly – and we all know that with live telly, anything can happen! So yes, it can scare the s**t out of me, but it’s exciting, too.
Have you ever witnessed anything, shall we say, inappropriate?
Well, the backstage show’s the one that’s really juicy; at the after-party, people are either excited because they’ve won, or if they haven’t won, they’ve been sitting having a few drinks for a few hours! But I love the chaos, like when One Direction won their award and Harry Styles was in the loo at the time.
Did you see Madonna falling off the stage last year?
I totally missed it. I watched it on YouTube on my phone in the next ad break. I was like, Jesus, is she OK? You could hear the thump when she landed. But she got up, and she kept going, because she’s Madonna. If it had happened to me, I’d probably just play dead and stay there until everyone had gone….
